Data We Collect

When you create an account or transact on Cheaply, we collect the following categories of information:

• Identity: First name, last name, username, and date of birth.
• Contact: Email address and phone number.
• Delivery: Shipping address or addresses saved to your account.
• Payment: Tokenised payment method references provided by Paystack or Flutterwave. We never store raw card numbers, CVVs, or full bank account numbers on our servers.
• Transaction history: Records of deals joined, orders placed, wallet credits and debits, and withdrawal requests.
• Device and usage: IP address, browser type, operating system, pages visited, and feature interactions, collected automatically when you use the platform.

How We Use Your Data

We use the data we collect to operate the Cheaply platform, including processing group-buying transactions, crediting and debiting your Cheaply Wallet, delivering your orders, and sending order and account notifications. We also use data to detect and prevent fraud, to comply with Nigerian financial regulations, and to improve platform performance and features.

We do not use your data for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects without human review.

Data Sharing

We share your data only where necessary:

• Payment processors: Paystack and Flutterwave receive the minimum data required to process your transactions, governed by their own privacy policies.
• Logistics partners: Your delivery name and address are shared with verified logistics providers solely to fulfil your orders.
• Law enforcement: We disclose data when required by a valid court order, warrant, or other legal process under Nigerian law.
• We never sell your personal data to third parties.

Data Retention

We retain financial records, including transaction history and wallet ledger entries, for a minimum of seven years in compliance with Nigerian financial regulations. Non-financial profile data is retained while your account is active and for up to 30 days after account deletion, except where retention is required by law.

Cookies

Cheaply uses two categories of cookies:

• Functional cookies are always active. They maintain your login session, remember your preferences, and secure your account. The platform cannot function without them.
• Analytics cookies collect anonymised usage data to help us understand how the platform is used and where it can be improved. These are opt-in only. You may decline analytics cookies at any time from your account settings.

Your Rights

You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to request corrections to inaccurate data, and to request deletion of your data subject to our legal retention obligations. Account Deletion

You may request deletion of your Cheaply account at any time from your account settings. Upon request, your public profile and personal identifiers will be removed within 30 days. Financial records associated with your account are retained for the statutory seven-year period regardless of account deletion status, as required by Nigerian financial law.
