How Event Ticket Deals Work on Cheaply

An event ticket deal sells admission to a concert, conference, workshop, or any dated event. It brings Cheaply's group pricing to ticketing: the more people who commit to a ticket class, the cheaper the ticket gets, and every buyer walks away with a scannable digital pass.

Ticket classes

An event is made of one or more ticket classes, for example Regular, VIP, and Early Bird. Each class has:

  • its own name and capacity (how many can be sold),
  • its own price tiers by quantity (more committed in that class means a lower price for that class),
  • its own progress toward the trigger that locks it in.

You set up the classes and their tiers when you create the deal, on the same form you use for physical and service deals.

Reserving tickets

When a buyer reserves tickets in a class, they enter a holder name for each ticket. At reserve time Cheaply immediately pre-creates each ticket with a unique 8-character alphanumeric code and a QR code, so nothing is left to chance later.

As with every Cheaply deal, the buyer pays the ticket price plus a small Deal Facilitation Fee on top, and you keep your full ticket price. The fee is shown before they pay.

Locking the event in

Each class locks in once it reaches its trigger quantity within the deal window. When every class has finalised, the event flips to confirmed and the buyers are charged their reserved totals. The money is held safely until after the event.

Issuing passes

From your event fulfilment screen you can issue passes to buyers, in bulk or one at a time. Each pass is a clean, monochrome card showing the QR code, the alphanumeric code, the holder's name, and the event details (date, time, venue). You can optionally attach pass media, a poster, sponsor visual, or a PDF programme, either as a class default or per ticket. Buyers see their passes on their My Tickets page.

At the door

On event day you open the gate screen and scan each attendee's QR code with the live camera scanner, or type their 8-character code by hand if a phone screen is dim. The gate shows clear states: checked in, already checked in, not issued, or not found, so your door staff always know what to do.

Getting paid

Event payouts are buyer-funded and protected like every deal. The protection window opens after the event date, so funds are released to you once the event has actually happened and the standard window passes.

The lifecycle at a glance

  1. You create the event with ticket classes, each with capacity and tiers.
  2. Buyers reserve tickets with holder names; codes and QR passes are pre-created.
  3. Each class locks at its trigger; when all classes finalise, the event is confirmed and buyers are charged.
  4. You issue passes (bulk or single), optionally with pass media.
  5. On event day you scan attendees in at the gate.
  6. After the event date and protection window, you are paid your full ticket price.

In one sentence

Sell admission in tiered ticket classes, let each class unlock a lower price as it fills, hand every buyer a scannable QR pass, check them in at the door, and get paid after the event.
