How Promotion Pools Work on Cheaply
A promotion pool is the one Cheaply deal type that does not sell a product. It sells slots in a shared promotion campaign. If you run ads, manage a page with reach, or organise influencer pushes, a promotion pool lets several sellers split the cost of one campaign so each of them pays a fraction of what running it alone would cost.
This guide explains the model end to end so there is no confusion about the numbers.
The core idea: one budget, shared by the slots
Every other Cheaply deal drops the price as more units sell. A promotion pool works the same way, except the thing that fills up is slots, not units.
You set one campaign budget, the amount you will actually spend running the promotion. You add your creator fee on top (a percentage of the budget, or a flat amount), and Cheaply adds a small platform fee. That total is the full cost of the campaign. It is then split across the slots that commit.
So the formula is simple and never changes:
Price per slot = (campaign budget + your creator fee + Cheaply fee) / number of slots committed
The more sellers join, the more ways the same fixed cost is split, so every seller pays less. That is the entire point.
Slot milestones
Because more slots means a lower price, you set milestones: slot counts where the price steps down. You need at least three.
A worked example with a budget of 100,000 and a 10% creator fee (Cheaply fee 3.04% of the budget, so a total of about 113,040):
- Milestone 1: 5 slots committed -> about 22,600 per slot
- Milestone 2: 10 slots committed -> about 11,300 per slot
- Milestone 3: 20 slots committed -> about 5,650 per slot
You mark one milestone as the auto-run point. That is the target the campaign charges everyone against, and it is the best (lowest) price. The price only ever goes down as slots fill, never up.
The fee Cheaply charges is 3.04% of your campaign budget (not of the grand total). It is added to the total and shared across the slots, exactly like the lines above.
Shared vs dedicated landing pages
When you create the pool you choose how visitors see the sellers in it:
- Shared landing: every approved seller appears together on one curated campaign page. Best for discovery and marketplace-style pushes.
- Dedicated landing: each approved seller gets their own standalone page, so a visitor sees one promotion at a time. Best for focused conversion.
Pick deliberately. You cannot switch the landing type later without rebuilding the campaign.
How a seller joins, and when money moves
- A seller applies for a slot. Nothing is charged at this point.
- You, the creator, approve each application (no slot is auto-approved).
- When enough slots commit, the campaign runs at the milestone price. If you want to run it before it fills, Order Now charges the committed sellers at the resolved milestone price and starts the campaign.
You then deliver the promotion and upload proof for each platform you declared (Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, and so on). Funds are released to you after delivery and the standard protection window, the same as every other deal type.
Editing a live campaign
If you edit the budget or milestones while a campaign is live, every committed seller is paused and asked to reconfirm at the new numbers. Nobody is silently charged more. Keep edits to before the campaign fills wherever possible.
In one sentence
Set a budget, add your fee, choose slot milestones, and the more sellers who commit, the less each one pays, with the price stepping down at every milestone you defined.
